Cotswold Bothy is in Cirencester, the leafy green Capital of The Cotswolds. Packed with Independent shops, pubs, restaurants and hidden gems. Whether you’re here for a wedding weekend or on a walking holiday, we have something for everyone. We have plenty of free off street parking being on a private road. On foot we are just a 10 minute stroll into town.
Cirencester, a market town - since the Romans - and Capital of The Cotswolds, has a wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants. You can wonder down the gorgeous Black Jack Street and into Stable Yard, offering so many independents shops and eateries.
Being an ancient and historic Roman town it has an amphitheatre, Roman villa nearby and of course the fabulous Corinium museum.
It is home to Gloucestershire's largest parish church, St John Baptist. To the north of the church is the walled precinct of the former Augustinian monastery founded by Henry I in 1117, situated in the now beautiful Abbey Grounds Park.
Cirencester boasts the famous Barn Theatre, has a wonderful outdoor pool (May to September), golf club and bowls club to name but a few diverse places to visit!
We have an extensive range of beautiful country walks and cycle routes surrounding us as well as the Cotswold Water Park. This includes over 100 lakes and offers a variety of activities including water skiing, fishing, sailing and open water swimming. Not to mention great outdoor places to eat after a day on the water. The source of the Thames is just outside Cirencester and funnily enough is the start of the Thames path!
Cirencester is close to many Equestrian pursuits. The famous three day events at Badminton and Gatcombe Park are close by and Polo is played regularly throughout the summer at Cirencester Park and the Beaufort Polo Club at Westonbirt. National Hunt Racing at Cheltenham and Newbury, plus Flat Racing at Bath are within easy reach.
If you are driving here we have plenty of off street parking at Cotswold Bothy being on a private road right next to Cirencester Rugby club.
We are also just 25 minutes drive from both the M4 and the M5. However, Kemble is our local railway station offering direct routes to London, Bristol and Birmingham.
